Mix your copper with a neutral to anchor your color for better gray coverage. If you are covering grays and like warm tones, you can expect better, more consistent and even color results if you add a neutral to your warm color.

Double Warmth:

If you want to double-down on warmth, blend two warm colors to achieve a brighter, richer, vibrant warm color with hints of chestnut, mahogany or copper.

Blend a little chestnut with mahogany and copper for prominent warm tones with a twist.

Warm + Neutral:

Blending a neutral color with a cool or warm color will add half-strength cool or warm tones. This lets you achieve a softer strawberry blonde, or to add half-strength cool tones to mute unwanted warmth.

If you are covering grays and you prefer warm tones, blending a neutral color with a warm color will help you achieve an even consistent color result from roots to ends. The neutral will fill missing pigments from your grays and anchor the warm tones, leaving a better color result over grays.

Half-Strength Cool Tones:

If your color goal is to mute unwanted warmth, but you don’t want to see a predominantly cool finish, try blending a cool color with a neutral. This will give you half-strength cool tones, which could be all you need to mute some unwanted warmth. This blend can work well if your hair throws natural warmth, and if you are keeping your base color close to your natural color level. Blend half a tube of Montecristo Light Ash Brown with Napoli Dark Blonde, for perfectly balanced light chocolate tones with a lighter, summery reflect, and a hint of Ash to offset brassiness.

Double Cool:

We always recommend cool tones when you are lightening because lightening reveals natural warmth. Blending two colors from two different levels will give you a base color between those levels, with cool tones which will tone and balance warmth, leaving a tonally balanced finish.

Just A Hint

Some truly beautiful color outcomes have just a hint of a second tone or color level. Less can be more.

Try adding a hint (one tablespoon) of rich copper tones for a softer, more muted beautiful color result.

To achieve this color result, you will initially need two separate colors, which you can order in a Duo color Kit. Squeeze your primary color into your tint bowl and then use a tablespoon measure to remove one level tablespoon of color. Add one level tablespoon of your second color, and mix well. This blend creates a beautifully customised blend with a subtle secondary tones such as her gorgeous soft auburn.

What’s in a Duo Color Kit?

A Duo color Kit has two different color tubes and 2 developers. Also included are color Protection Shampoo and Conditioner, gloves, hair color remover wipes and barrier oil.

If your hair is shoulder length or shorter, your kit can be used for two color applications. You’ll receive 2 x color Protection Shampoo and Conditioner, gloves, hair color remover wipes and barrier oil. Squeeze and blend half of each color tube with one developer for a standard color application.

If you have long and/or thick hair, mix the entire two tubes with both sachets of developer.
