Rich, bright highlights can be achieved by finishing your highlights with copper or mahogany based tones, and they can leave a beautiful, vibrant contrast over a darker or lighter base color.

Add a few face-framing highlights, or add layers throughout your hair to achieve the finish you prefer. Highlights are finished with a semi-permanent color, giving you the flexibility to try different finishes without committing to a permanent color.

There is a red color for everyone. Lighter complexions best suit copper based colors or softer auburn or strawberry tones. Mahogany or darker copper based colors work best with deeper skin tones. If you are considering a brighter, bolder color, red highlights could be perfect for you.

Red Highlights With A Darker Base

Mahogany highlights will add vibrant, dramatic color, dimension and movement to highlights.

Adding mahogany or copper tones to a darker natural base utilises your base as a contrasting color. Highlights let you experiment with color, without the commitment of a permanent color application.

Mahogany and chestnut highlights over a brunette base, creates a chocolate cherry finish. Try Paola Dark Chestnut Blonde, Milano Mahogany Brown or Verona Chocolate Brown highlights to add mahogany or cherry tones throughout your darker base.

Mahogany or copper highlights over black hair will give a vibrant eye-catching contrast and add dimension and movement to your color finish.

Red Toned Highlights Over A Lighter Base

Add warmth and copper highlights over a golden dark blonde or auburn base to boost warmth. Warm tones on a warm base will blend beautifully and add dimension, volume and depth.

Soft auburn highlights over a dark to medium blonde base color leave a beautifully subtle hint of auburn and a highly dimensional finish.

Applying highlights as a balayage or foilyage application means that the highlights will grow out effortlessly, and maintenance is low. Simply refresh the tone by applying a seme-permanent color over your highlights when you see the color has faded.

Our Highlights kits include a lightener pack to use with your foils, and a second kit including either a toner or semi-permanent color to finish your highlights. Each kit is customised to meet your color goals.
